Budbreak Festival in downtown Mount Airy last Saturday

The Budbreak Festival was Saturday, May 5th, on Main Street.

Food was provided by 13 Bones...



Music provided by Bobby Keys....

Art and crafts were also a part of the festival...

and wood turning....

But most of the crowd came to sample wonderful wines....

Olde Mill...

Old North State...

Round Peak....

and Un'Corked hosted Weathervane...

There was also some local wineries...here is Slightly Askew from Elkin.
 

Kids Unplugged at Riverside Park

May 7, 2012
Saturday was filled with fun for kids at Riverside Park. 

The event was called Unplugged, as a reference for getting kids outside and having fun, instead of attached to a video game or TV.

The Girl Scouts where there with a face painting tent...



But there were other fun activities, such as dancing...

Cornhole games....

Fishing....

...and fun with daddy!  It was a great day at the park, and a really special day if you're a kid!

Mount Airy Rotary sponsors wine judging at Old North State Winery

Bottles were lined up for judging last night at Old North State Winery.

Best in the show for red and white wines...judging was sponsored by the Rotary.

It was a great turnout for the first night of the Budbreak Festival.

Looks like someone was pretty excited about the goodies on the table!

Everyone was enjoying delicious wines throughout the evening.





Jazz singer, Melva Houston, and musician, Bobby Keys (of the Rolling Stones) provided the entertainment.

The Embers at Blackmon Amphitheater on Friday night

Friday night at the Blackmon Amphitheater...the crowd was dancing up a storm!

The Embers played great tunes and the dance floor stayed busy.

 

Shelton Vineyards poured wine and The Dairy Center sold food.

Old North State and Reggie Johnson

You know when the Blackmon opens, most people head over to the event since they are so glad it's spring again. But, some did not! Here, at the other end of downtown, Old North State Winery had Reggie Johnson entertaining for those who did not brave the crowds at the amphitheater!

An intimate crowd gathered and enjoyed the winery.

Everyone seemed to enjoy the evening out, thanks to Old North State.

Many were enjoying a great night out with friends and family.
